Jabber IM by Cisco Systems

If you use Jabber IM for business, then this Android app should make messaging even easier on the go. The app allows access to your desktop IM and does basic functions like chat, call and email. Note that it only supports Android 2.3 and up. Transparent Calendar Widget

This clean, minimalist widget is a great widget for showing your Calendar events without blocking your home screen’s wallpaper. Multiple calendars are supported, with color coded boxes to indicate which calendar an event is coming from. Intellicover

Intellicover is a small app that turns off your screen light when your device is face down, or kept in a case or purse. When the device is picked up, the light turns right back on. This is done using the proximity sensor present in most Android devices. Calculator Plus Free

For those lengthy equations for school, work or home, this app trumps the stock calculator app in any version of Android. Never lose track of a calculation even when leaving the app – it’s still there when you come back. With a beautiful interface, doing math is less daunting and even a little appealing. Marvel War of Heroes

The only official card game from Marvel features Spider-Man, Hulk and Hawkeye. In the game, Hydra is a villain with a secret weapon called iso-8 which can end the world as we know it. The player of the game is a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who is now given the incredible task to save the world from imminent ruin. The game boasts of regular updates with new cards, and original art by Marvel artists Aleksi Briclot and Francesco Mattina. Global Outbreak

Experience zombie apocalypse in 3D arcade style. To create a more realistic gaming experience, turning on your phone’s GPS will incorporate your location in the story. Build an army, collect and upgrade weapons to win the battle against the undead. Note: Samsung Nexus S and Galaxy S are unsupported at this time. Garfield’s Diner: Hawaii

An extension of an earlier game, Garfield and his friends are back – this time in sunny Hawaii! In this cooking game, the diner crew must stay on their feet to serve hungry and impatient customers. I enjoyed the original version of this game, so I’m looking forward to be equally entertained by this one. Zombie Toss

It’s Fruit Ninja with a zombie twist! This game seems to think zombies make for a good meal, so it’s up to you to decide. The fun part is slashing jumping zombies with knives, chainsaws and other powerful tools that gets the gory job done. After a few levels, this game gets challenging for me, but that didn’t stop me from trying harder. Knights of Pen and Paper

Another tribute to the pixel-art games of old, Knights of Pen and Paper is a turn-based RPG. In this game, you choose which characters will play, including the bad ones and set up the battlefield. The game will set you back $1.99, but it seems to be a small price to pay for such a good looking game. Note from developer: This game is only suitable for Android devices with high performance hardware. There’s always something for everyone in the Android app universe, so I hope you find something for you this week. Enjoy the weekend with your Android device!
