Navigate to Settings » Mail, Contacts, Calendars and tap on Preview — notice it’s set to 2 Lines.
Next, in the Preview section, select one through five lines. I want to get the maximum amount of lines on my iPad so I selected 5 Lines.
There you go. Now you can preview more of your messages.
The process is the same for an iPhone or iPod touch as well. You’ll want to use discretion with showing too many lines since there is less screen real estate than the iPad.
